builder, Rex Wain
has 33 years of experience, making him both a
leading authority and a producer of the finest and
most correct work on the canal. He is regarded a
master craftsman in the building of narrowboat back cabins
and all wooden parts of the narrowboat, using
measurements taken from numerous original examples;
either his own or from those restored for customers.

In addition he fits out modern interiors in a
traditional style using a wide variety of hardwoods.

TRADITIONAL:
Traditional canal woodwork, wooden, sheared cabin building to museum standards
and fully wooden boatman’s cabins, oak and iroko
butty rudders and ash tiller bars, teak decking,
pigeon and dog boxes, gunwaling, masts, cratches and
running-gear. Also, all major hull and bottom
repairs, elm and opepee rebottoming, oak keelsons
and hull planking.
MODERN:
Rex and his team of craftsmen undertake all joinery
associated with canal boats, such as reskinning
wooden cabins, cratch and plank work for canopies,
making of and repairs to doors, hatches and window
frames. |
